Nostrification is a procedure leading to the identification of a Polish equivalent of a foreign certificate, diploma or degree.
The authorities responsible for carrying out the nostrification process are:
- In the case of nostrification of higher education diplomas, the board of a university organizational unit authorized to confer a doctorate degree in a specific field of study or field of art leading education in the field of higher education completed by the diploma obtained abroad.
- in the case of nostrification of scientific degrees, the board of an organizational unit authorized to confer the degree of doctor habilitated in a given field of science or art in the field of scientific or artistic discipline of the scientific degree.
Provisions concerning nostrification:

- Rozporządzenie Ministra Nauki i Szkolnictwa Wyższego z dnia 8 sierpnia 2011 r. w sprawie nostryfikacji stopni naukowych i stopni w zakresie sztuki uzyskanych za granicą (Dz. U. 179 poz. 1067 [2]).
